Nose
Smoky. Charred Oak. Earthy saltiness. Peat.
Palate
Black and white mint humbugs. Pronounced black treacle. Molasses. Pepper.
Finish
Cough sweets. Chlorodyne.
Comment
With its chestnut colour and highly distinctive flavours, this is a wonderfully wintery whisky.

Jim Murray

Nose
Enormous battle between the fattest, cleanest juiciest sherry you can imagine and chunky peat.
Palate
Every bit as mouth filling and chewy as the nose suggest.
Finish
Ladles of molten chocolate and sweet peat plus cherries and vanilla.
Comment
A monster of a malt, fully underlining what truly magnificent distillery this once was when the peating levels were traditional and unrestrained.
