Martine Nouet
Nose
Woody, musty. Sherry. Walnut oil. Cappuccino then wet ground coffee. More sherry. Liquorice lozenges. Hint of praline.
Palate
Sweet and sour. Coffee toffee. Gripping.
Finish
Lingering, spicy and dry. Liquorice.
Comment
Sherry wood is undoubtedly invasive but yet, here’s a complex one. To be softened by chocolate pralines or almond biscuits.

Nose
Complex. Starts with bung cloth and concentrated fruits; then cereal, a hint of smoke, and floral notes (Cognac) citrus, pine wood, light chocolate, freshly charred wood, orange zest.
Palate
Intense. The oak has grip but sufficient caramelised flavours to carry.
Finish
Long, tingling, elegant.
Comment
A classic complex mature whisky where the wood has not taken over.
