Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson

Nose
Less aromatic than the 1987. Less spicy, too. A hint of peat.
Palate
Quite syrupy and lively. Icing sugar. Mince pies in front of a log fire.
Finish
Cough sweets. Dusty spiciness. Warming.
Comment
Less soft than the younger expression. A drier, more robust, expression.

Jim Murray

Nose
Mildly citrussy and herbal. The minty malt is lovingly tendered by some delightful oak. Very well balanced.
Palate
A wave of sweet malt is retained by a waxy body; mouth-watering and amazingly fresh for its age.
Finish
Deft vanilla oak slowly dries the sweet malt. Lots of cream toffee to finish.
Comment
An amazingly relaxed malt for such great age; delicate and understated. Impressive.
