Tasting Notes

Gavin Smith

Nose
Red wine, stewed fruit, delicate wood smoke.
Palate
Initially very dry and intense, but soon becomes remarkably sweet, even reminiscent of a hot toddy for a few seconds.
Finish
More of the dryness returns, but still sweet-cherry-flavoured cough lozenges-dominates.
Comment
Intriguing, but a little too much imposed sweetness for my taste.

Dave Broom

Nose
The colour of onion skin. Fragrant perfumed smoke. Quite light. Cigar smoke mixing with sea shell, sloe, strawberry, travel sweets, a floral note.
Palate
Bone dry (oak and soot). A touch of seaweed. A fizzy fruitiness in the middle.
Finish
Great: sweet red fruits balance dry smoke.
Comment
Good, but seems to come in different sections rather than a complete package.
