Dave Broom
Nose
High alcohol. Robust. Orange, dried fruits, Dundee cake. Big, resinous with lacquer-like notes. Some sulphur.
Palate
Very aggressive, even brutal, when neat. Water brings out a scented quality, glacé cherries, tobacco. Much better with water.
Finish
Tight. Resin.
Comment
This is all about power, show and bravado and misses out on elegance depth and nuance. Some will love it.

Nose
Very balsamic. Eucalyptus, cedar. Praline, caramelised pecan nuts. Overcooked plum pudding. In the back, a meaty note like Oxo cubes. Séville orange peel. The alcohol is well mastered.
Palate
Surprisingly sweet. Cooked plums, orange marmalade. A hint of liquorice.
Finish
Dry, lingering oak but still gentle. A rubbery echo.
Comment
There is more on the nose than on the palate. Fairly young maybe?
