Tasted in Whisky Magazine Issue 17 by Michael Jackson and Dave Broom.

Whisky Magazine is the perfect complement to the dram in your glass. Every issue brings you fascinating articles on the art, science and romance of the 'water of life', plus page after page of tasting notes.

Tasting Notes

Michael Jackson

Nose
Nutty, leafy. Toasted. Charred oak.
Palate
Medicinal. Syrupy. Still some sweetness and juicy nuttiness, but quickly overwhelmed by the oak.
Finish
Long and warming, but some burnt astringency.
Comment
With water, more toffeish malt notes emerge in the middle, but the wood is very dominating.

Dave Broom

Nose
Sulphur/coal gas, rubber, prune, walnut, clove, Christmas cake, cold tea, fig, coffee, chicory, dark chocolate and autumn bonfires.
Palate
An immediate hit of bitter chocolate, dried fig then some rich, powerful dried fruit. Good texture.
Finish
Slightly bitter.
Comment
An espresso coffee going straight into the veins. Astonishing, but for sherry freaks only.
